About this piece
Selfishly, I created this piece because I really just love the way that scribbles look in art, and I wanted to create a very abstract cream and black piece for my own home (I have this painting in the living room!). It’s also very special to me because my son Phoenix helped me create it! I really wanted the charcoal scribbles to be super random, and I kept making them too uniformed, so I enlisted his help and he rose to the challenge!
This piece is called “In the Beginning,” and I love it because it reminds me that at the beginning of time, there was chaos, and God created an beautiful and perfectly balanced world from it. While I don’t look at this piece and feel chaotic (I feel calm and happy and creative), it does remind me that things don’t have to make sense to be enjoyed, and that you never know what beautiful thing might be coming your way next.
Stylist's note: This piece was custom framed in a bespoke antiqued gallery gold frame. If you're interested in this exact frame, please contact us!
