I believe...
I believe home can heal.
At this point, we've all been through some stuff. Great stuff, hard stuff, in-between stuff... After everything we've walked through in our own home, I'm more convinced than ever that creating a home that inspires and delights you can also help you heal on a deep level. (If you've found LL because of our daughter Eva, hi! I'm glad you're here!)
I believe art is the anchor of a room.
Of everything you can bring into a room, meaningful artwork has the greatest ability to instantly transform how a space feels. Art sets the emotional tone, tells a story, and becomes the backdrop for your everyday life. Home decor trends would have you re-doing your kitchen bi-annually. In my humble opinion, this isn't stewardship. But you can change how a room feels to best suit the mood or vibe you want to foster, and art is one of the simplest ways to do exactly that. I'm inviting you to set an intention for your home through artwork. Calming? Inspiring? Hopeful? Serene? Are you looking to transport yourself? Or reflect back to a meaningful moment? I'd love for my art to help.
I believe you are worthy of meaningful art.
Sometimes it might be easy to think that caring about beauty is vanity. But I actually believe that surrounding yourself with things that inspire and delight you is an act of self care. Beauty as nourishment. Beauty that reminds us to slow down, breathe deeply, and care for ourselves after spending the day caring for everyone else. Art is not a necessity of life, but I do feel that meaningful art enhances our lives in a way that can be invaluable. Most likely, you take all this time caring for others. Art can be a way you care for you. What you surround yourself with matters and has an affect on you, whether you realize it or not. There are so many things in our lives that we don't have control of. But your walls? Those are yours for the claiming.
I believe in small business.
Whenever possible, I choose to surround myself with fellow artists and makers whose craftsmanship I genuinely admire. That's why the Mercantile is filled with products from women-owned or women-led American small businesses creating beautiful things with incredible care. Amazon and big box stores have their time and place, but if you're craving more meaning and thoughtful purchasing, you've come to the right place.
My hope has never been simply to help you decorate your walls. It's to help you create a home that welcomes you at the end of a long day. A place where meaningful artwork anchors the space, beauty nourishes your soul, and every thoughtful detail reminds you that you're worth caring for.
Above all... You are seen and loved.
And I hope this little corner of the internet reminds you of that every time you stop by and visit.
