The working title for this piece was "Winter to Spring at the Plant Shop," but that felt like a mouthful! However, that's what I pictured when I was painting this piece. I wanted to create something that felt energetic and full like Plant Shop, but something that felt more seasonal, less tropical. If I was going to create a window display for a Plant Shop during the months of February to May, it would look like this: more robust foliage (pine, of course), cooler greens and frosty colors... the Himalayan-salt-pink evokes some warmth, and then the true transitional moments – some of the branches are covered in frost, some are springing up flowers. The happy little cherry blossoms are proof that warmer days are coming, and I love the reminder that there are changes in seasons of weather and seasons of life. I hope you enjoy this piece all year!
